It was a beautiful and sunny day here in Deadwood today as our group of authors gathered at the Lodge at Deadwood for the 6th annual Wild Deadwood Reads. It was awesome to see so many familiar faces as well as a bunch of new ones, and we wrapped up the day raising over $1,000 for the Shiloh Horse Rescue.
When our group of authors and their cohorts descend upon the Black Hills each year for this event, you are bound to find mischief. laughter, entertainment and shenanigans. If you are ever able to join us, we will make sure you don't walk away without a story or two to tell your friends back home...and I don't mean our books either!
As far as books go, we have romance of all sorts...like Christian romance? We have it! Want something a little more intense and pulse quickening? We have that too! And there are mystery writers, post-apocalyptic thrillers, military tales, and historical tropes. Seriously...come join us next year...I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Now that the event is over, I'm almost packed up for my 5:30 am flight out of Rapid City...which means I have to be up at the indecent hour of 3 am if I'm to get to the airport on time. So, it will be a nice dinner with my partners in crime...Tina Susedik who writes historical romance and has a wonderful series set in Deadwood and Jane Yunker who is a new up and coming author who also writes historical romance. After dinner, I'm going to drag myself through the casino and ignore the calling of the chiming of slot machines and get an early night.
To those of you who were able to join us in Deadwood...thank you so much for coming and sharing our event!
Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to wish those dads out there a very happy Father's Day!!
