A Perfect Weekend to Garden

I cannot complain about the weather this weekend. It was absolutely gorgeous! We got the new chicken pen and coop put together, and the chickens are no longer free rangers. Which means today was a day of putting out flowers and mulching the flower beds. Of course, that required a trip to Lowe's to replace the perennials the chickens dug up last year.

My fingers and arms are nicked up pretty good from pruning the rose bush and trying to cut away the wild grapes that get tangled in the thorns. Hopefully, I can get to the root of the problem and dig the damned things up. Not the rose bush...the wild grape.

Tomorrow, when I get home from work, I'm going to change out the dirt in the raised bed and get the peas planted before it rains on Tuesday. I am hoping I'll also have time to get the potato towers started. Maybe I'll go in a little early so that I can leave early. It would give me a little more daylight time. We will see how the day job goes.

I know that I'm beat; The one thing that didn't get done today was putting together the garden shed. I think it's a little too much for me to do. So, I'll have to find someone who wants to make a few bucks to put it together. You would think that it wouldn't be all that hard, but 144 pieces is way too many for me to tackle.

After a nice dinner of burgers on the grill with potato salad and baked beans, I think I'm going to take a nice long soak in the tub and wash the garden dirt off my skin. More, I need to treat these aching muscles with a little TLC.

Speaking of dinner, we had a nice evening with friends and family. Barbecued ribs which fell off the bone, macaroni and potato salad. And a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity before coming home and finishing up the book I started reading last week. All in all, it's been a wonderful weekend.

I'm going to get off here and get that bath with rose water and mint...I hope you all have a great week.
