Kicking off Beltane

As Beltane approaches on May 1st, me and my daughters and one of my granddaughters kicked off the weekend with an evening of Wine and Witchcrafts presented by the awesome Janna Graham of Magick by Moonlight. We made miniature May poles and enjoyed an evening with like-minded women. It was really nice to do something together! And next Saturday we are going to be doing the actual Beltane celebration!

Today started with a trip to Lowe's to get more potting soil for my raised beds, and I found some really nice rubber edgers that look like concrete. They are flexible and all you have to do is stake them down. A lot easier...and lighter to handle. Those are what I will use to create my medicinal herb garden out front. I didn't get it started today because I still had to plant peas and get the potato towers ready to plant. Then finish laying the mulch out front and plant a couple more perennials out back. Got the cushions out of storage for my porch furniture and gave the back porch a good cleaning. Then hung the string of lights back up along the edge of the porch. One night this week, I'm going to get the hot tub cleaned and sanitized really good and get it filled for the season. For as much work as I've done today, it would have been nice to sit in there this evening to ease my sore muscles.

This week, I decided to step away from my paranormal series and do a stand-alone contemporary romance. It's a second chance romance which is set in the hills of Kentucky titled Watermelon Moonshine. I'm really liking the flow of the story and the characters are just that....characters...I anticipate a release date sometime in early summer. Watch for news on the release date on my Facebook page...

I can't believe it's only about 6 weeks until Wild Deadwood Reads. I'm looking forward to hanging out with my author friends and getting to reconnect with some familiar readers and hopefully meet some new faces. My flight is booked, and I'll be staying at the Lodge again this year. If any of you are going to be in the Deadwood area during Wild Bill Days, be sure and stop in and see everyone.

Look for my special blog post on May 1st about the history and traditions of Beltane...in the meantime...have a wonderful week!
