I have no idea why we even do this! All it meant for me this morning was that Kate the Drama Hound woke me up begging for food at 2:00 am instead of 3:00 am. I think she has her days and nights mixed up. Something. I wonder how many times I can pull off pretending to get up long enough for her and the snorting Frenchie to run out of my bedroom so I can shut the door and go back to bed. Such is life at my house these days.

It has been a really good weekend. I took a mental health day off from the day job on Friday, so I've had three days off. We got up bright and early on Friday morning and drove down to Brown County and went horseback riding. After we were done there, we went and had pizza in Nashville, explored the shops, took a carriage ride and grabbed some dessert...not to mention going to the fudge kitchen and loading up on several flavors of popcorn.

The next thing on the house projects was starting on the kitchen. It took all day yesterday, but the cabinets are now organized and looking pretty good. Second thing on the kitchen agenda is getting the ceiling painted. Then we will move on to the walls and finally the cabinets. By the time it is all said and done, it will be like having a new kitchen.

Friday, I sent off my short story to one of my bookstore buddies. We will be having an anthology we are using as a crowd funding project for our start up finances for the bookstore. That puts me back on working on my final short story for my own collection which will release later this month. Titled The Magick of Hope Harbor, it will have short stories set in the fictional coastal town of Hope Harbor along with some "extras" such as recipes, witchy tips, etc. Once it is done, I will get back to work on one of my other 4 works in progress. Fingers crossed that I get at least one of them done for an early 2026 release.

We took down the Halloween decorations yesterday, but I left the autumn ones up. The porch would have looked too bare without them. I'll change them out the day after Thanksgiving for the Christmas ones. Lots of Christmas ones. I'm going to go get the rest of my decorations out of the storage unit. The ones that have been tucked back in the recesses of the unit untouched for about five years. It will look like a Christmas explosion here at the house!

Okay, I'm going to eat my dinner and watch this television show before I buckle down and get busy writing. Hope you all have a wonderful first week of November!!
