Today is yard sale day. The day when I hope all the clutter and unused things find new homes. This is so my lovely daughters aren't stuck with a houseful of stuff to clear out when I find my way to the gates of heaven where I can really get some peace. Right now, it's sunny and I'm praying that we don't get the "light showers" the weather lady mentioned on the radio last night.

Next week, I am going to be flying to Phoenix with my beautiful sister-in-law to visit my other beautiful sister-in-law. The weather app says that we can expect temperatures of at least 100 degrees. But it's dry heat, right? 100 degrees is 100 degrees no matter how you spin it. But I am looking forward to a girls' weekend with these lovely ladies. Thank goodness for American Airlines overbooking my flight out of New Orleans in May and needing people to give up their seats. Another night in a hotel for a $1000 voucher. Yes, please and thank you very much! I'm hoping we get to wander over to Jerome which is the one place my brother wanted to take me before he passed away. And I really need to bring back some prickly pear cactus starts for my daughter's collection.

I have been diligently working on our bookstore sponsored anthology called Mysteries of the Mississinewa. One thing about being the anthology coordinator is that I get to read all the stories as I compile them into the book. I've been enjoying taking some of the folklore and stories I heard as a little girl and doing some research to give each story some added historical intrigue. My goal is to wrap it up before I leave for Arizona on Thursday so that my teammates can give it the final once over before I upload for publication. If you are local to us, you can get your copy of this spine-tingling collection at Paraunity 2026 at the Miami County Fairgrounds on October 17th. If you aren't local, you can order a signed copy of the book by emailing us at bookwormorchard2026@gmail.com

The bookstore will be celebrating Bookstore Romance Day on August 15th. We will have some specially priced blind dates with a book that day if you are in the vicinity of Bookworm Orchard, 428 S. Washington St., Marion, IN or you can email us at the email address above to request your own blind date with a book box. All you have to do is let us know your preferred romance genre.

Halloween is right around the corner...and our bookstore has a hauntingly exciting celebration planned for October 31st. We have authors, books, prizes and a paranormal investigator panel for our VIP visitors. You can order your VIP tickets from our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/bookwormorchard

Instead of blathering on about not much of anything, I think I will make this a short one. I have a list of things to still do before I head out for my part-time job this afternoon. Have a great day and happy reading to you all!!
