Bright Colors and Gloomy Skies

Today is one of those totally expected autumn days with a fantastic dose of bright colored leaves in the woods against the backdrop of an iron-grey sky filled with low clouds holding buckets of rain. The blustery gusts of wind have set the scarecrow spinning on his post and the witch's hair and dress flapping like bat wings. I have no idea where the skeleton's cowboy hat went, so I'll have to go in search of it tomorrow. In the meantime, I managed to get some much-needed housework caught up on and am now sitting in front of a television tuned into Hallmark and my laptop ready for me to write some words for Uncommon Heather.
Tonight's Hallmark movie is A Montana Christmas. There is nothing better than a cowboy Christmas story and being set in one of the most beautiful places in the United States just tops it all off perfectly. It's true, the parts of Montana I traveled to were beautiful. Then again, so are the Black Hills and Lake Tahoe. I'm going to have to take another trip to Montana one of these days. Perhaps find a dude ranch to spend a week enjoying the finer things in life.
I hate that I missed my annual writer's retreat with my friends from Wisconsin. By the looks of their Facebook posts, the cabin was perfect and the views stunning. Unfortunately, the day job and a trip to our corporate office took precedent. This year, anyways. Fortunately, I got to wrap up my visit to Ohio by having dinner with my very handsome and very smart grandson who is a law student down there.
Other than watching Hallmark movies, I did use some of my day to tune into YouTube and get some research done for the Samhain event I'm hosting with a friend. We are going to share the origins of Samhain, tell some of the folk tales that go with those origins, carve turnips, and provide card readings to all in attendance. Some of the stories were so familiar as we heard them when we visited the Leprechaun Museum in Dublin a few years ago. I cannot wait to share them with others!
Okay, my time is limited this evening. The chickens and ducks are safely in their rooms. I've had a very late lunch so all I need is a snack. I have some writing to do, and I'd really love to have a nice bubble bath by candlelight with a cup of the new tea I ordered. I hope you all have a lovely week...and if you are going to be in the Peru, Indiana area next Saturday, stop by and see me at the Paraunity Event at the Miami County Fairgrounds.
