Count Down to Deadwood

It is going to be a busy few days for me leading up to my trip to Wild Deadwood Reads, so I wanted to get a quick post in for y'all before I leave...and to remind you to check back every Wednesday for the next installment of my short story-The Gambler and the Preacher's Daughter. Hope y'all are enjoying it so far!

This weekend is going to be a scurry of packing and checking to make sure I have everything I need for my trip...then I hop on a plane to Eau Claire, WI on Tuesday to meet up with my partners in crime for the drive to Deadwood...Tina Susedik and Jane Yunker. Wednesday morning we will take off on our road trip and arrive in Deadwood late Wednesday afternoon or early evening.

One of the things that I've done every year I've gone to Deadwood--this makes the fifth year--I've stayed at a different place. This year we are bunking at the historic Franklin Hotel which I know serves up an awesome breakfast with mimosas. I may even manage to get some casino time in one evening! Wish me luck...maybe I will win big time and be able to travel even more.

I don't want you to think I'm not writing...I truly am...and I'm about finished with The Reluctant Santa which will be part of the Romantic Galena Reads anthology releasing later this year. Then I will start on my story for Hope Harbor's newest anthology which will also release later this year. And remember, all proceeds for Hope Harbor will go to a specific charity.

Life on the farm has slowed down a bit now that the garden is all planted and he got the pool and hot tub up and running for the summer. The advantage of having the pool is being able to actually take an afternoon to float around and read while catching some healthy sunlight. We won't talk about the advantages of the hot tub...

I think I am going to be in the market for a life partner for Zeke. I think he is lonely and he doesn't like the company of the goats...except to chase them and try to bite them. I also think it's time to get a couple more does to partner up with Wesson because unfortunately, I lost Pistol earlier this summer. I really want to experiment with making soap and skin care products with goat milk.

I also have some news about my other side business...if you like to learn about spiritualism and herbology/natural remedies...my Walking with Spirit website will soon be up and running. I will share a link here in the very near future.

Okay...I'm off to work at the day job...take care and check back soon...and be sure to watch my Facebook page for Deadwood updates...PS...I will be running a book signing exclusive sale that is HUGE during the Deadwood event.
