Hello There!

I know…I know…it’s been a bit since I’ve posted. Just the scattered life of a part-time author, part-time medium, part-time farmer and full-time business professional. All I can do is hope for a few minutes to post once a week, but if it doesn’t happen…it doesn’t happen.

I had a nice trip to Galena, Illinois for Romantic Galena Reads a couple weeks ago. Found the perfect route to avoid crime-ridden Chicago. A nice countryside route. Same route I’ll be taking when I go to Lake Geneva next month to hang out with my awesome author friends for a ‘writer’s retreat’ weekend.

Next weekend, my daughter and I will be at the Flaming Caudron Psychic Fair in Decatur, Indiana. Yes, I will have books along with some candles, herbal tinctures, and moon water soap. I’ll be doing oracle card readings all day as well. If you are in the area, stop by and see us. My daughter has some really cool terrariums that look like crystal balls.

On October 5th, I will be at the Smash/Slash Author Bash in Portage, Indiana. At this event, I will mainly have my paranormal books and will be doing oracle card readings as time permits. It’s a small event, so you should have time to visit each and every author who is there.

Yesterday, I enrolled in a formal herbal medicine class for which I will earn a certification. I am extremely excited about this! When I am finished, I plan on opening an online store with herbal remedies. Herbal and holistic health care is extremely important to me, as I truly believe our modern-day medicine and pharmaceutical companies aren’t built to make us healthy, they are there to make us sick so that they can have repeat customers. It’s all part of their marketing plan. We won’t even touch the food companies and how they put things in their products to increase illnesses to help out their pharmaceutical industry buddies. I could go on and on about this…but I won’t.

How many of you are excited about the arrival of fall? Saturday is Mabon…or the second harvest. That time of the year when light and dark are equally balanced. The time to give thanks to the waning warmth and to pay respects to the impending darkness of the winter months. It’s the time period where we prepare to wind down the year when Samhain arrives. In Druid tradition, it is called Mea'n Fo'mhair or the Middle of Autumn and a time to honor the Green Man or God of the Forest by giving offerings to the trees. I will be celebrating Mabon with a group of like-minded folks, and we will be having a pitch in dinner on Saturday night.

Did you all see the beautiful moon the other night? I had hoped to get some really good shots with my new camera, but I still haven’t figured out how to best use it. I was able to do a prosperity spell under the light of the moon and put out water to charge. Water I use specifically in my soaps. Last month, I made mint soap for rejuvenation of the mind and body. This month it will be frankincense soap for healthy skin.

As far as reading, I have gotten a lot done. And…I finally gave in and used the drive to Galena and back to listen to a couple of audio books. On the trip there, I listened to the history of Grace O’Malley, the pirate queen of Ireland and on the way back I started If You Tell by Gregg Olsen. I actually kept looking forward to being in the car so I could keep listening to the latter…if you get a chance to grab that one…and you don’t have a weak stomach or heart…it was well worth the listen. I just finished reading A Witch’s Lament by Cathy Walker last night, she was a new author to me, and it was a good book if you like books about witch’s and magick. Last week, I finished up Kept Secrets by Shawn McGuire and it was another hard to put down book.

Okay…I’m going to wrap it up with an invitation to join the new release party for Watermelon Moonshine on Friday, September 20th on my author page at www.facebook.com/TeresAKeefer. There will be guest authors, games and prizes!

If you are wondering about my Wheel of the Witch series…yes…the next one is in the works. I did some rearranging of the order of the titles, so the next book will be Yule and I hope to have it out in time for Yule…can you imagine a heroine with a Christmas tree farm in Maggie Valley, North Carolina who has some ‘little people’ for helpers? Little people who are centuries old…

Have a great weekend!
