Rainy Weekend...

It has been a warm and muggy rainy weekend. But I'm not complaining!

Yesterday I spent the day with my two oldest daughters who accompanied me to Slow Burn Books in Garrett, Indiana just north of Fort Wayne. If you are anywhere nearby and haven't stopped in, this little bookshop is so awesome! Owned by Hannah Ziko, she has nailed the perfect little shop for romance readers in a small town with a lot to offer! Her selection of books includes Sarah J. Maas, Lucy Score, Colleen Hoover, Laurie Gilmore, Rebecca Yaros and so many more! You can check out her selection of candles and eReader covers...and don't forget to take a peek into her restroom...she also hosts author signings and other events...so mark your GPS and take a road trip!

In addition to hanging out at the bookstore with me, my girls went in search of food and found this amazing pizza place by the name of Coterie Pizza...they had the chicken/bacon/ranch pizza, and I had the veggie stone baked sandwich. A couple of doors down from the bookstore, the winery has this amazing cotton candy wine slushy you can get to go...there's a really cool shop on the other side of the bookstore...and the three of us wrapped up our day out at Pearl and Rose Tattoo taking advantage of their flash sale. I'm sporting a new little sunshine on my shoulder today! And I plan on going back to get my rose stem on my ankle at a later date.

The next few weeks are going to be a whirlwind of activity. Today, I am facilitating a workshop on Living a Spiritual Life at Enchanting Garden in Marion, IN. Work all next week at the day job while spending the evenings catching up on writing. Next weekend I'm going to be taking inventory of candles, lotions and soaps for our upcoming event at the Hannah House in Indianapolis. Then...the following Friday is an evening with the girls at Ruoff Music Center enjoying the music of Jason Aldean! I've got a volunteer event on the 16th, back at the shop on the 17th, then prepping for Scotland in the days to follow! I am so stinking excited about this trip! Between meeting a whole bunch of new authors and readers at the Authors Invade Scotland event in Stranraer then hopefully a couple of hours browsing the bookstores in Wigtown before heading up to Loch Lomand for a three-night stay in a real castle and jaunting around the Highlands before we had down to wrap up our trip in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Stay tuned either right here or on my Facebook author and reader group pages for some real time reports of the trip.

The rain here has now turned into a thunderstorm...I hear it rumbling in the distance...and the big red drama queen has crawled in the closet. Honestly, I needed a rainy weekend like this to get some things done inside because on sunny days, the pool keeps calling my name and once I'm in there with a good book...I'm pretty much done for the weekend.

Here at the farm, we are still trying to find new flocks for 4 or the 5 roosters we ended up with as part of our straight run shipment back in March. There's nothing like being woke up to five juvenile roosters crowing at 4 am every morning. And for some reason, this group of roosters cannot discern between chicken and duck or male and female. Everyone in the run is a free for all. Not to mention, two of them that we pulled out of the run because of their insistence on romancing the drake to the dismay of his lady partner have become aggressive to anyone who sets foot in the yard. We now have a long stick on both the front and the back porch, and I have had to blast them with the hose a couple of times just to get the others fed. If there is anyone in our neck of the woods in need of about four prancing pricks...drop me a line!

Well, with that little bit of dark humor that isn't quite so funny when you are living it...I'm going to close out this week's post and get some writing done! Have an awesome Sunday and week to follow!!
