Snow, Wind, Cold!

We got hit with our first substantial snow yesterday here in Indiana. It snowed almost all day yesterday then the wind hit us last night. None of the farm animals were out this morning, and even the yard rooster was tucked away in the calf hut outside my bedroom window where he didn't miss his morning crowing. Kate, the Queen of the Starving Dog Clan managed to sleep in until 7:00 am which is unusual for her since she usually starts her bellowing around 3:30 am. I'll be grateful for that small miracle!
I don't believe I'm even going to get out of my big wooly nightgown and warm slippers today while I put the finishing touches on The Magick of Hope Harbor which is my collection of short stories about four special women with their own bit of magick up their sleeves. It will even have some bonus parts with recipes, tales and magick practices you can enjoy in your own home.
Yesterday, I made up a big pot of my favorite cream of vegetable soup and some homemade bread. Luckily, there's plenty for us to eat today as well. There's nothing like a pot of hot hearty soup on a day like today. The best part is, I don't have to cook anything else today. We still have Thanksgiving leftovers and the soup!
Since it is too cold, snowy and windy, we aren't going to be putting up Christmas decorations yet. We need to save that for a different day. There's a drift of snow in front of the shed where they are all stored and the rest of them are at the storage unit a couple miles away and I have no interest in venturing out. However, I found a few things tucked away in my closet and there were a couple of items I bought at Hobby Lobby, so we are not completely bare of holiday spirit.
I've really been enjoying these four days off from the day job. Stress free...quiet...and not having to get out in the weather is a big plus. However, tomorrow it's back to work and we are unfortunately expecting more snow tomorrow night into Wednesday. After my fall last year, I'm somewhat paranoid about going outside in the weather.
