Springtime Weather

Mother nature was full of wind this weekend. All day yesterday, she whistled through the landscape and then wrapped it all up with a good dousing of rain. Just a normal March day in Indiana.

However, across the country, not everyone was so fortunate. My heart goes out to those in states who have been affected by the devastating tornadoes. I've always had a deep=seated fear of tornadoes, perhaps because as a little girl during the Palm Sunday tornadoes in 1965. Because of that deadly outbreak of tornadoes, I will never forget what the air felt like or what the skies looked like. And on Friday, as I was leaving work, the air had tinges of the storms which were to come. If there are any of my readers have been affected by the storms, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

With most of my spring cleaning completed, I'm ready to get started on the gardening. Since the tail end of yesterday's storms brought with it a blast of cold air, the only thing I can do today is map out what I'm going to do and order the plants or seeds or trees. Of course, after yesterday's wind, I have a day's worth of cleanup to do since it appears that everyone's loose trash has been deposited along the fence row and in the edge of the woods.

The dogs have the right idea today. They have each claimed one end of the sofa along with the corresponding pillow and throw. They go from their spot on my bed to their spot on the sofa where they will remain unless the Amazon driver rolls down the driveway or a noisy car goes by. Even the cats have found a spot to curl up and snooze.

Despite the high demand for baby chicks, we were able to get ours. We started with 13 chicks and 3 ducklings on Friday, but we lost 3 of the chicks overnight. That's usually how it goes, though. The ducklings were unidentified, but one of them is starting to stand upright so I'm pretty sure it is a runner. Those are my favorite ones; even though they aren't the friendliest. Give me some time cuddling them and I'll prove otherwise.

Tomorrow is Saint Patrick's Day! As much as I had hoped to make a pot of Guinness stew and soda bread, that probably will not happen since we have an all-day meeting tomorrow that has the potential of going into the early evening. Maybe, I will go ahead and make it today instead. Of course, that would require that I run to the store and grab some potatoes and cabbage and that means I'd have to get dressed. Unless I order online and go pick up. I'll have to ponder on it for a little bit. Sigh, I really need to make it today. It will be my only opportunity to recognize Saint Patrick's Day.

With that said, I suppose I better at least pull out some meat for dinner. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
