Three Day Weekend!

I want to start this post by reminding everyone why we have a holiday this weekend. We live in the home of the free because of the brave men and women who served our country. This is their weekend, and without them, we wouldn't be celebrating ours.

Both my parents served in the Army during WW2. When my dad got injured in combat, he was shipped state side, which is where he met my mom. As is common with most servicemen who saw combat, he didn't talk a lot about his time in Guam. To this day, he is forever my hero. My dad exemplified what it meant to be a man. He was an honest man who, even with his disability, did everything from working on the house, growing a garden, working on cars and he even worked two jobs. And he was the best grandfather to my girls!

Yesterday and today, I've gotten a lot accomplished but not enough. The contractor has been hard at work on my spare bathroom. All that is left at this point is the ceiling and flooring. I absolutely love the faux embossed tin ceiling tiles. Once he's done with all that, it will be time to shop for accessories. I managed to plant tomatoes today and tomorrow will get the beans planted. I sewed new covers for my patio cushions and got the pool water treated. Tonight, I think I"m going to take a break and mix a pitcher of rum punch and relax in the hot tub.

Tomorrow, I need to think about packing for Deadwood. The books go in the suitcase first so I can make sure it's not overweight. I bought a new carry on which will most likely hold the bigger part of my clothes and toiletries. I also need to clean the chicken coop and put fresh straw in the calf hut for when the baby goats arrive. Last night you could see them moving in her belly. I'm just glad it's not the middle of the winter this time. The last two years, the babies came right around Christmas and when it was cold AF out.

I've been working diligently on Ostara as well as two other WIPs. The way it looks, I may release a total of 6 books this year. One down, 5 to go. I think that may be a record for me! I'm probably going to have to take my laptop to work and use my lunch hour to write. I've done it before when I've been on a deadline. I could probably write a half a chapter in an hour if I only spend five minutes eating.

I had dinner with my granddaughter last night, and we were talking about what all we are going to do when we go to New Orleans and Biloxi for her 21st. The hotel we are staying in is a historical venue built in the late 1800s and the rooms look really cool. Not to mention they have a courtyard with a pool. I cannot wait to eat some good Cajun food, beignets at Cafe DuMond, and party on Bourbon Street. Then we will go to Biloxi and try our luck at Hard Rock Casino...maybe teach her how to play black jack or Texas Hold'em. And, of course, we will get some beach time in.

Well, it's time to get some writing time in before I go kick back with a cocktail in the hot tub. Happy Memorial Day everyone! And don't forget to remember those who fought for our freedom!
