I hope on this first day of the first week of the first month of the new year, you are looking forward to what 2023 has to bring. I know that I am!
Today, I am settled on the sofa with Oscar and Kate watching...or rather listening to...stories of Irish mythology and legends. That should give you a hint of a couple projects I've got in the works. I call it research...for a historical romance set in the early days of Ireland. It will be my first jab at a historical romance, so I know it will be slow going with a lot of research yet to be done.
As I sit here, I'm also writing. I have a work in process with no title...but here's a little blurb..."From the streets of New York City to the hills of Ireland, follow the heroine's journey of enlightenment, healing and romance in this magickal paranormal romance." Sound catchy? I certainly hope so! Because I'm enjoying telling the story!
In case you didn't know, I have taken the step over to Kindle Vella. There are 5 episodes up and ready to read with several more in the works. The title is Ghostly Reunion which is a current day romance which brings a Civil Warm love story full circle. Don't you just love a good ghost story? How about tales set in New Orleans?
I've been off work from my day job since 12/22/22 and have honestly made good use of my time. I actually read 11 books which is what put me in the mood to write. Which is what I've been doing for the last three days. But let me tell you about the books I read. If you haven't read anything by Tricia O'Malley, you are missing out. I highly recommend picking up her Mystic Cove series. Books 1-11 are free on Kindle Unlimited and Book 12 will be out on January 10, 2023 and I cannot wait!
I'm also going to be working on a couple of non-fiction projects in 2023 about spiritualism and clairvoyance. Some of these projects will be found on my Walking with Spirit web page and will be in instructional format. If you have an interest in learning more about that type of topic, I would invite you to take a look. I know it's not for everyone, but for those of you who are, it could be a good, basic start.
I've noticed my mailbox and my email are both starting to fill up with seed catalogs. That means it's time to start planning for another facet of my busy repertoire. Garden time. There have been some interesting articles on no-till planting and using cardboard and newspaper to prepare new beds. Because I have a lot of clay in my soil, it becomes necessary to explore different options for different plants. And in my research last summer, I also discovered there are only certain plants which will thrive in my fenced above ground garden because of the presence of some very large walnut trees at the edge of the woods. This year, I'm also going to look at using companion plants in the garden.
Speaking of companion plants, my companion plant on the sofa is nudging me with her big cold nose, so that's my signal it's time for lunch. Have a wonderful day!
